Meet Tim

tim and candice nelsonTim Nelson and his wife Candice have lived in Frisco for 18 years. While Frisco grew, so did the Nelson family. Tim is a proud father of three children. Professionally, Tim is an officer in the United States Army Reserve, a REALTOR, and Investor. While his personal and professional lives are demanding, Tim finds time to serve Frisco and various local organizations including the Frisco Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frisco American Legion, Smith Elementary PTA, Friends of the Frisco Public Library, Heritage Association of Frisco, Frisco Veterans Advisory Committee, Frisco ISD Independent Study Mentorship Program Mentor, Boy Scouts of America, etc.

Tim possesses the skills necessary to be an effective citizen representative. Frisco is vibrant, dynamic and has experienced phenomenal growth not only in population, but infrastructure as well. Now more than ever, the city’s leadership team must be made up of members that are involved and engaged within our community and a rich mix of experience from outside the community. Tim possess this broad range of experiences and the ability to apply value-based decision making that takes into consideration the impact it will have on Frisco months, years and decades into the future.

As a Soldier and businessman, Tim has visited 5 continents, over 25 countries and most of the United States. Through his travels, he has experienced some of the best and worst that national and local governments have to offer. Tim believes successful governments are comprised of individuals that make strong, effective and sometimes difficult decisions in a timely manner.

During Tim’s tour of duty in Iraq from 2003-2004, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.  He was awarded a second Bronze Star Medal during his tour of duty in Afghanistan from 2011-2012.  In 2008, Tim was honored as the Reserve Officers Association Junior Officer of the Year. These awards demonstrate the highest level of service and self-sacrifice to our country, and highlight his ability to make values-based decisions under the harshest of conditions. These are characteristics that make Tim an effective Councilman.

Tim is uniquely qualified to share a special blend of leadership and experience with our community. His skill set on the current Frisco City Council adds the leadership and decision making that the city of Frisco needs and values.
